So last night during the Chicago Bears and San Diego Chargers game, the newest World of Warcraft commercial debuted. The newest celebrity to join the ranks of WoW stardom is Chuck Norris. The TV spot is expected to run several more times this week during other popular events. Pretty much any internet user knows or is at least familiar with the famous Chuck Norris facts, a collection of details about the Hollywood actor that make him out to be pretty much the most powerful being in the Universe. Blizzard also found out about these facts and got the actor and martial artist to promote its World of Warcraft MMO through a new commercial that you can enjoy below. On a side note – Blizzard added this little blurb to the video “Chuck Norris didn’t break a sweat filming the newest World of Warcraft television spot. Instead, he made the director cry and then cooled himself with the tears.”

Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today announced plans for the fourth expansion to World of Warcraft, its award-winning massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). Unveiled to a sold-out crowd at the company’s BlizzCon gaming festival, World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria lifts the fog of mystery surrounding a long-lost continent that has been newly rediscovered following the events of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. The new expansion reintroduces the elusive pandaren, originally seen in Blizzard’s real-time strategy game Warcraft® III, as a playable race and adds a brand-new player class: the martial-arts-focused Monk. While exploring the mysteries of an exotic new land and advancing to the new level cap of 90, players will experience a range of new content and game features, including new quests and dungeons, group scenarios and “challenge” modes, pet battles, and more. “Players have been asking to see the pandaren in World of Warcraft since the game’s launch, and we’re excited to finally be able to give them a proper re-introduction to Azeroth,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “In addition to the new playable race and class, Mists of Pandaria contains a huge amount of new content, and we’re looking forward to sharing more information [...]

So the rumor mill is churning and everyone wants to know what Blizzard has in store for us. Mists of Pandaria was trademarked by Blizzard according to a recently found trademark application. So hopefully Blizzard will reveal some details at the upcoming BlizzCon in October. From Gamespot: As spotted by MMO Champion, Blizzard has filed for a US trademark on “Mists of Pandaria” for use in gaming software and entertainment services. Much like Blizzard’s trademark for Cataclysm, the application was made under international classes 9 (electrical and scientific apparatus) and 41 (education and entertainment). However, the publisher also trademarked Cataclysm separately under international class 16 (paper goods and printed matter) for comics, strategy guides, and the like. The Pandaria name may be familiar to Warcraft fans. It is the island home of the panda-like Pandaren race, first teased as an April Fools Day joke by Blizzard. However, the Pandaren have found a following among the Warcraft fanbase, such that references to the race have found their way into the games proper, most notably with a Pandaren Monk pet available for World of Warcraft players for $10. Regardless of whether the Mists of Pandaria speculation is accurate, news of the next [...]

This is a move I’ve been expecting for awhile. Blizzard has been making free to play noises for years now and it has finally happened under the guise of an extended trial. Blizzard is calling the free to play content the World of Warcraft Free Starter Edition. The included content pulls from the original game and the Burning Crusade expansion pack, although not all content from the expansion is included. Because of this a player can select any class and any race. Of course the player can’t past level 20 without some Real Money Transactions, in this case the original World of Warcraft and The Burning Crusade expansion for a cool $20 dollars. This news is part of the whole patch 4.2 update, entitled Rage of The Firelands. So what is your take on this? Interested? Not interested? Already thinking of creating an Under level 20 RP Guild? I’d like to know! Source: Massively
