Just six weeks after launching one of the most anticipated video games of all time, BioWare, a Label of Electronic Arts, is continuing to set new standards in online games with Star Wars: The Old Republic. Already the fastest growing subscription MMO ever, Star Wars: The Old Republic has sold over 2 million copies, with a thriving base of over 1.7 million active subscribers, as gamers around the world have immersed themselves in the story-driven, online Star Wars universe from BioWare and LucasArts. Helping drive The Old Republic’s early success has been the quality and reliability of the game’s service, with servers being available for more than 99.5% of the time outside of scheduled maintenance. BioWare has also delivered on the promise of continually adding new content by releasing Rise of the Rakghouls, which added new, higher level group content, less than 30 days after launch. The next game update, featuring even more content, new game systems and additional guild features, is scheduled to be released in Spring 2012. “We’re truly honored and humbled by the incredibly strong support from our players who are enjoying Star Wars: The Old Republic,” said Dr. Ray Muzyka, Co-Founder of BioWare and General Manager [...]

Yesterday, Anjel Syndicate‘s very own Warren Bennett took on the task of writing an extremely detailed review of “Star Wars: The Old Republic.” If you haven’t read that yet, I would recommend that you give it a look as it will likely answer many of the questions and address a lot of your concerns in regards to the game. I had my own thoughts on this game, and after speaking with him about it, I’ve decided to do what I’ll call a companion review to his one. He has covered things that I likely won’t get into and, likewise, I might mention a few things here that the other review didn’t. Hopefully, between our coverage, you will be able to have all of your questions answered and, if not, you know how to reach us. “Star Wars: The Old Republic” is a game that has been hyped up for years. As Warren pointed out, rumors of the game’s existence began to circulate as early as 2006 and once the project was confirmed in 2008 the hype took soar. BioWare at the time was well known for its handling of the “Knights of the Old Republic” game, so when it was [...]

TITLE: Star Wars: The Old Republic PUBLISHER: EA/LucasArts DEVELOPER: Bioware GENRE: Massively Multiplayer Online Game PLATFORM: Microsoft Windows RATING: T RELEASE DATE: December 20th, 2011 It is hard to believe the day has finally arrived when I can play Star Wars: The Old Republic. Rumors of the games existence first popped up around 2006, boiling up from the bowels of the internet. It was to be an online sequel to the Knights of The Old Republic series, the first MMO that Bioware would be involved in producing. However, Bioware and Lucasarts didn’t announce the game until 2008 when it was officially unveiled. Four years later and we have a finished product. Of course, in the last four years SWTOR was hyped to the moons of Yavin and back. So much information about the game flooded the internet that I had begun to fear that the game wouldn’t live up to the expectations. I figured that, just like a certain other MMO before it, SWTOR would be a combination of crushed dreams and a healthy dose of disappointment. I’m glad to say that Star Wars: The Old Republic actually does live up to the hype. This is true for me at least. Your experience may vary. [...]
