For those of you that haven’t seen the greatest commercial ever for Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, you don’t realize what you are missing. The newest commercial features Robin and Zelda Williams (Yes, she really is named after Princess Zelda!) and has shots of gameplay in it. The game releases this Friday, June 17th and is sure to be one of the hottest titles available for the 3DS this summer.

Hot on the heels of Sims 3 Generations being released and E3 about to kick off comes this announcement trailer for the next expansion pack and also a stand alone console/handheld title. The Sims 3 Pets, which of course is all about pets for your Sims. I am… undecided on this one, as it could be Sims 2 Unleashed all over again, although the addition of Horses does make it more interesting so time will tell, it’s projected to be out in Fall 2011 for PC, PS3, XBOX360, and 3DS. My review of The Sims 3: Generations will go live in the May/June issue of GameTheory Digital Gaming Magazine around the end of the month.

As probably anyone who follows me on Twitter or Facebook can tell you my guilty pleasure has been the Sims franchise for the last several years. While not every expansion pack or even stuff pack has been something I completely enjoyed, I’ve gotten them all and with the combination of them generally enjoyed myself immensely. Sims 3 Generations, which is the latest expansion pack to come (which drops on May 31st) is no exception, and believe you me, I will be getting my grubby hands on this one and by all the information i’ve read and seen during the Producers Broadcast, I’m really going to enjoy the hell out of this one. With all the new items and gameplay elements added throughout each Sims life cycle, I think this one will oppen up new avenues of play that will add some depth to those life cycles that i generally sleep through (ie Kids and teens for the most part). So without any more of my going on about it, check out the launch trailer and get ready to Play With Lif3 on Tuesday!

Aeria Games has released the date for Closed Beta date for Eden Eternal today, which is slated for June 2nd, 2011. They also released the Dungeons trailer in the build up for closed beta which gives us a taste of the dungeons found in this new free to play MMORPG. The more I see of this, the more of an interest i take in it, while we’ve seen a slew of anime-esque mmo’s come out from year to year, they always have some odd element that makes them different, we’ll see if Eden Eternal finds it’s own interesting quirk that will hook in players. For now, check out the new trailer and if you haven’t already sign up now for the Eden Eternal Closed Beta.

Mastertronic and dtp entertainment have released a new trailer for the upcoming summer release of the Kylotonn Entertainment developed “The Cursed Crusade” today. Featuring a mix of cinematics and some gameplay/combat footage, this looks like it might be an interesting title, with both its single player and co-op player adventures. Certainly might be worth at least a look amongst all the bigger titles due to come out this year. Check it!

This is one piece I’ve been kicking around in my head for quite a while now. I’ve put it off, I’ve been rather noticeably busy, I’ve made excuses, or quite simply I just wasn’t ready to put it all down. It’s not because I have trouble recalling everything that took place, or trouble writing it. It’s not because there’s some worry of terrible secrets being revealed or concerns I’ll say the same thing. What has held me back is because it was quite honestly one of the more transformative episodes of my professional life. I’d been drifting on the fringes of the game industry for years beforehand, mostly in the indie scene, consulting on projects in a story capacity, providing QA, did some freelance writing for a couple of published MMO’s. (Though that work is lost in the mists of time, only I and the people I wrote for might even remember). I even did some voice acting for a couple of indie projects, but nothing I’m going to talk about, since it was a long time ago and not really relevant. One step before Top Secret was the crew I dealt with who ran Pirate King Online, doing a [...]
