Family Guy Online Closed Beta Registration Begins

Well for all you Family Guy fans, an online game is in development and closed beta registration began today. This seems to be one of the best kept secrets of the series, as no one in the gaming news industry knew this game existed until today. If you are interested in signing up for more info or registering for beta, Family Guy Online is the place to go.

After a basic fact-finding mission, IGN seems to have uncovered some more details about the game. “the game will run in-browser and on Unity, and will feature two currencies — cash and “clams.” The description for clams leads me to believe that it will be the primary currency of the game as it is earned by “doing things and accomplishing tasks that you might be challenged to complete.” Therefore, cash is likely obtained with real money. We also know it is allegedly launching this autumn. “

With the huge fan base of the series and the fact that this appears to be a free-to-play game with micro-transactions, this game may possibly be a hit. I’m definitely seeing lots of people spending money on this game.

I had no idea that there was going to be an online Family Guy game…That’s a very strange idea, but it just might work. In the world of fantasy and sci-fi MMORPGs, perhaps it’s time that someone went out on a limb to make something totally different.
