Nintendo has announced that a big update is coming to the 3DS on June 6th 2011, which includes the much awaited eShop, Web browser, and some optimization for DSi and DSiXL owners to transfer their previous owned DSiware to their 3DS’.
However the big news in my opinion is that with the release of the eShop they are giving away a free copy of the remastered Excitebike (a title I wasted hours on as a kid on NES). Free games are always nice, though be aware the free game is only available through June 7th so get on it on the 6th or you might miss it. Also, the eShop will include a free Pokedex app that allows 3DS users to collect and view Pokemon from Poke` Black and White in 3D. The eShop will be updated on Thursdays so you can you set your news feeds to track for that news while they build and grow the library of content available through that service. Some of the content expected however is the Gameboy titles: Super Mario Land, Alleyway, and Radar Mission.
Given the struggling sales the 3DS has experienced since it’s launched, I suspect it will be interesting to see what comes from Nintendo during E3 regarding the 3DS. I know I’ll be keeping an eye on things!
